In An instant Everything Changed
In an instant—everything changed.
I was sitting at home with all of my clients' canceled bookings in front of me when it dawned on me. This wasn’t an option, it was a calling. I can't quit! An unshakable feeling down to the very last cell in my bodythat I had to share my passion for travel on a new level with the world. I had no idea, in that moment, that my life would change forever. Or even more shockingly, just how much it would change....
It is now time for me to combine my passion of traveling with my teaching background and offer online courses and books for the travel industry. This will not be courses for just those who work behind the scenes, it will also be for my clients. You should be aware of how things operate in this industry just as much as the person you are giving your money to. After all, once you land in your destination our team will no longer be physically there for you. It is important to me that you are well informed. So what's new?

The Life of a Travel Professional During a Pandemic
So basically I have gone from working at a my storefront location to two TV trays and a glass of wine. The wine is now an essential component of my workspace:) To date, I have canceled about 60 vacation packages and that is just up through May 2020. On May 1st we will start canceling reservations for June. Do you know that travel agents do not get paid if our clients don't travel? Our income, like so many across the world, just came to a complete stop. Now, our days are filled with being on hold for hours canceling and rebooking vacations for 2021. We are also trying our best to keep up with all of the changes that are taking place in the travel industry. Clients are calling concerned about refunds and future travel vouchers, while others are calling asking, "When can we travel again?" For the first time of my career I do not have an answer. It is a whirlwind! No one knows when it is safe to travel again. All we have to hold on to right now is our memories and our faith. It is my hope that when the world reopens I will have a new group of motivated solo travelers to join my clientele list. It is very important to me that my students understand the importance of living and traveling as much as you can while you can. There is no time for fear! We cannot wait on others to live our lives our way. Tomorrow is not promised, so the time to live and explore and meet new people and discover new cuisine and feel the sand in our toes IS NOW!
Just wanted to share...
I will return to my Netflix, wine, and two tv trays for now and continue to create more content for my students. We have a new class and workbook bundle dropping on Monday. It's time to share my knowledge as much as I can so that I can help someone else.
Want to share your thoughts with me? Feel free to share below.
How did you find me? I wonder if it was a destination experience that I created for you, a class that you took in our travel school, a social media post, or at an airport sipping on a glass of champagne? Regardless of what landed you here, I am so happy to have you. Let me start off by saying this - I have no clue about blogging. I have never done it and don't even know how often I am supposed to "blog". One thing that I am great about is researching so you best believe that I will have a better understanding about this by the time I post again. This blogging thing is something that I decided to start doing during the COVID-19 pandemic. I now have time to start something new. Here is a little bit about me - I am an original Georgia Peach who has an addiction to travel! When I say addicted I mean a Delta Airlines Platinum Medallion Member Addict. The ONLY one reason why I have not sold my home and took off with a backpack is because I have two daughters who I love waking up to everyday. As soon as they have established their own families I will be out! While I am able to, I hope to inspire other female travelers to travel more and worry less. Look, we all have an expiration date so our time is limited. Even if traveling is not your thing, whatever your "thing" is, do it sis. I made the decision years ago to not allow people and life changes to get into the way of my joy of traveling. I take my children with me often on my adventures, but for the most part I travel solo. I hope to show you the full picture of what a lifestyle of traveling looks like for someone like me with children at home. No they are not neglected, and no it isn't selfish of me to travel so much. Don't believe the narrative that you were raised to believe! I was not born to sit at home and wait for the children to be grown and gone before exploring the world. You see, we explore together when possible. Otherwise, momma will bring them back a souvenir when I return. I have raised strong, independent, and intelligent young girls. We are good! Our life is just not the typical American way. We just move different! I was told once that traveling is overrated. Next thing I know I see that same person traveling the world too. It's okay sis, I get it - when the travel bug bites there is no escape. But you won't know this until you get out here and move different. Nevertheless, my hustle continues to be a great mom, sister, daughter, friend, mentor, entrepreneur, educator, niece, aunt, godmother, neighbor, club member, prayer partner, sorority member, church attendee, community volunteer, and now BLOGGER. Whew! This list has made me log into my Delta App to book my next flight. Too bad I can't go any further than the kitchen for now - thanks Coronavirus. It's 3am here in Atlanta so I guess I will get some zzz's for now. Ttyl -Nita Adi
